Introduction to Munich

We trained to Munich and only had to wait an extra half hour in the freezing cold on the train platform.  So far our train journeys have not been perfect.
Munich is gorgeous!  It was heavily bombed during World War II, but they rebuilt a lot of the ruined buildings.  I've seen several cities with bomb damage before, but this is the first time I've seen a place where the allied forces were the ones who created the destruction.  It makes one pause to think.
We went to a huge Christmas Market near the rebuilt neogothic town hall, and one near the gate into the old town.

But our favorite market today was Pink Christmas, a cute little market sponsored by Munich's gay and lesbian community.  Pink Christmas trees, really strong amaretto gluhwein, and a mixture of Christmas tunes and ABBA.  A good time was had by all!
