Beautiful Salzburg

It rained yesterday while we were wandering around Salzburg, so we didn't get many pictures, but we definitely saw some sights.  There is a lovely little snow-topped mountain just behind our hotel.

We went to the Salzburg Museum (weird, we think the main thing worth seeing was closed, or at least we hope so), and Mozart's birthplace, which was an interesting little museum, with lots of artifacts from Mozart's life.

We rode the funicular up to the fortress on the cliff, which has gorgeous views, even in the rain.

Today the weather was beautiful!  We started our day at the Mirabell Palace, which has some lovely gardens.

We went to several Christmas Markets today, and had lots of gluhwein and pretzels.   We got to pose like angels, but we liked the Krampus cookies better than the St. Nicholas ones.

We went to the Salzburg Christmas Museum, which has an astounding collection of Krampus memorobilia, collected by one woman over the course of her lifetime.

We particularly liked this long-tongued Krampus, and the nutcracker where the little man sits on the nut.  Dad signed the guest book as a token of our "Krampus Crawl".

Our last stop of the day was Hellbrunn Palace, which had a wonderful Christmas Market.  Dad made friends with a cute little goat at the petting zoo.
